Community Legal Centres Australia

The national peak body for community legal centres across Australia, providing free legal advice, casework and information.

Community Legal Centres Australia is the national peak body for the community legal sector, in particular community legal centres across Australia.

We are an independent, non-profit organisation established to support the community legal sector and ensure provision of free and accessible legal and related services to everyday people, including people experiencing discrimination and disadvantage.

Our members are the State and Territory peak bodies of community legal centres. Together, our organisations represent more than 170 community legal centres, Family Violence Prevention Legal Services and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services across Australia.

We strive to be leaders in good practice for other civil society organisations, to advocate for justice and the promotion and protection of human rights, to be responsive to the needs of the community legal sector and to maintain and strengthen the collaborative networks that allow our sector to provide holistic support to communities.

Our key areas of work

  • We are a strong voice to, and for, the community legal sector

  • We increase the resources available to the community legal sector

  • We strengthen our communities through enhanced collaboration

  • We facilitate the provision of high quality community legal services
